Metemamen Microfinance S.C. participated in the African Inclusive Finance Week 2025, held from 13 to 17 October 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. The event, organized under the theme “Re(focusing) on vulnerable populations to meet upcoming challenges in inclusive finance,” brought together more than a thousand participants from across Africa, including leaders of microfinance institutions, investors, regulators, and innovators working to advance financial inclusion on the continent.
Representing Metemamen were the Board Chair, Ato Bekele Moges, the Chief Executive Officer, W/ro Wegayehu Asrat, and the Business Development Head, Ato Surafel Teshome. The Ethiopian delegation also included the Association of Ethiopian Microfinance Institutions (AEMFI), Harbu Microfinance, Wasasa Microfinance, and Peace Microfinance. Their participation reflected Ethiopia’s growing commitment to strengthening inclusive financial systems and learning from regional and global experiences.
Throughout the week, the Metemamen team attended key sessions focused on innovation in microfinance, client protection, governance, digital transformation, and sustainable investment. The event featured an Investor Fair, an Innovators’ Village, and specialized workshops that explored how financial institutions can better serve women, youth, smallholder farmers, and other vulnerable communities. These engagements offered valuable insights for Ethiopia’s microfinance sector, especially as institutions expand access to finance through technology and new partnership models.
For Metemamen, the lessons drawn from SAM 2025 reaffirm the institution’s direction toward building a client-centered, digitally enabled, and impact-driven organization. The delegation returned with renewed commitment to strengthen partnerships with local and international actors, and continue enhancing governance and institutional resilience.
Participation in SAM 2025 marked an important opportunity for Metemamen Microfinance to share experiences, exchange ideas, and position itself among leading African institutions shaping the future of inclusive finance. The insights gained from Nairobi will play a vital role in informing the institution’s strategic priorities and operational improvements in the years ahead.
